The Path To Self-Actualization

Based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, self-actualization requires meeting deficiency needs first. In the process of attaining self-actualization, one must contemplate the meaning of life. The challenge arises, as the individual will have to reflect upon behaviors, values, and decisions taken in order to live a life that is chosen by one, not for one. One will have to challenge norms, traditions, customs and typical ways of being. Sartre would condemn conformity to societal norms and traditions, or what he calls acting in bad faith.
